Should I join United States Marine Corps infantry as an 0352 if I score fairly high on standardized tests?

I am a Junior in high school, and have always wanted to claim the title of United States Marine. And if I were to join the Marine Corps, my first and foremost choice would be to enlist as an 0352 TOW Gunner in Infantry. However.. more than a few people..parents, teachers, high school guidance counselors.. have told me I was "too smart to be a grunt like that". I'm not having second thoughts or anything, nor am I trying to appear conceited or full of myself in regards to intelligence, I just want to know the opinion of actual marines, maybe even an 0352 himself, who are above average academically but still chose to serve this mighty country in this way.
